SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING


DUKE ENERGY INTERNATIONAL 

 

Situation

Duke Energy International has over 9 power generation sites in latin america. As part of their commitment to sustainability, they gather annual data from each site and develop a sustainability report compliant with GRI standards.  Duke Energy International hired my firm to write the report and I performed all activities from communicating with in-country contacts, auditing & updating data, writing copy, graphics & layout. 

TASK

  • Update annual sustainability report for Duke Energy International latin american assets.

  • Identify new programs & achievements. Report findings for proliferation or corrective actions, as needed.

  • Author the sustainability report.

  • Coordinate with in-country professionals and corporate sustainability & marketing leaders.

ACTION

Result 

  • Updated GRI report.

  • Highlighting awards, achievements, & best practices.

  • Alignment with policy & long-term strategic plan.

  • Stakeholder engagement. 

 


San Diego International Airport

 

Situation

San Diego Regional Airport Authority operates SDIA.  They had written a sustainability report but lapsed in their reporting cycle and desired to be compliant with newly released GRI G4 guidelines.  Central to the GRI G4 reporting process was a materiality exploration.  I was brought in to lead internal & external stakeholder engagement to define materiality, audit existing data, crosswalk to GRI G4 compliance, and assist with writing.

TASK

  • Lead Materiality Exploration.

  • Engage stakeholders to identify materiality.

  • Audit & update data.

  • Provide technical support during authoring.

ACTION

Result 

  • Engaged over 1000 stakeholders through in-person interviews, email campaigns, customer engagement, and workshops.

  • Developed first definition of materiality for SDIA which gave greater focus to sustainability program.

  • Audited historical & new data to update reporting.

  • Transitioned reporting to GRI G4 standard.
